I’ve gotten a few questions curious as to why I chose my blog title to be “My Journey for Wisdom”. I decided to explain this a little bit further so that you can better understand my intent for this wonderful experience. My “About” page explains it in short, but here I’m going to go into more detail specifically why I chose wisdom.
This all starts with the thought of fearing the Lord. When I really started getting into scripture, I got kind of weary when thinking that one should “fear” the Lord.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline. ~Proverbs 1:7
I thought the Lord was someone we could go to for anything and everything- comfort and safety and love. So why should we fear Him? Am I supposed to be scared of Him like I’m scared of big spiders and tornadoes?
As I read further, I was relieved to learn that the fear we have towards God isn’t what I once thought. It’s not really a feeling, per-say, but rather to be in awe, wondering, and worship. The fear refers to the fact that He is more powerful than anyone can truly understand.
Wisdom is more than something you gain more of as you grow older. The lack of worry and fear that you see in older people isn’t from a greater intelligence, but from knowing the One who holds all wisdom- Jesus.
Wisdom is more than education and experience, it’s something more than can’t only come from accomplishments. True and full wisdom only comes through God. It’s never a formula that we can create, but only from the One that created us. It begins with God. Wisdom is something that only God can give.
Through my journey for wisdom, or in some ways my journey for God, I remember that joy and wisdom unfailingly come from Him. Through my life I will experience things, gain knowledge, and pursue my own life path- but through it all I will remember who is leading me where I should be. I encourage you to reflect on this as well.
